Biography

William is the Chair and co-founder of the Financial Inclusion Forum Africa. He is also the Acting Head and Market Engagement Director for the Mobile for Humanitarian Innovation programme at the GSMA. Prior to this, William worked in the financial sector for over 20 years working with industry big brands such as Fidelity Bank and Barclays Bank. His last role in the Banking sector of Ghana was as Director for Strategic Partnerships and E banking with Fidelity Bank Ghana where he was responsible for developing and driving the banks financial inclusion agenda by setting up the first agent banking network in the country and developed and deployed several mobile linked financial products with MNOs in Ghana.

William is a passionate speaker on development in general and in financial inclusion in particular. He is a board director of Enhancing Financial Inclusion and Access in Nigeria (EFInA), a steering committee member for the Smart Campaign, a former regional board member for Junior Achievement Africa and former board member of Airtel Money (Ghana).

He has a PhD in Financial Inclusion from Nottingham Trent Business School on financial inclusion and an MBA (Economic Development) from Birmingham City University and first class degree in Economics and Mathematics from University of Cape Coast in Ghana.
